Bavaria Equine & Oddities LLC

Our training program at Bavaria Equine & Oddities LLC has developed from multiple influences, but is largely guided by the latest developments in Applied Behavior Analysis. Students as well as professors from the University of North Texas regularly visit our facility to study and practice the positive, force-free approach to training alongside our equines.

We offer halter training for all ages. Positive horsemanship motivates foals, adolescent horses, and adult horses alike to confidently lead anywhere: Over obstacles, through water, and out on the trail. It is never too late to start!

A big part of our training program is managing horses' flight instinct. As prey animals, horses are prone to running from all perceived threats. To keep both horse and rider safe, we emphasize teaching horses to remain calm anytime he/she feels in danger, rather than simply habituating him/her to some common objects or situations.

In addition to halter training, we are happy to take horses of all ages through our positive colt starting program. Teaching starts on the ground and is slowly transitioned into the saddle, all the while building a foundation of trust and understanding between horse and human.

For horses who have already been started under saddle, we offer tune ups. We are happy to re-train horses who have been started through a more traditional approach, or to refresh a positively started horse's training. 

Regardless of the discipline the individual horse excels in, we strongly believe that every horse should be managable out on the trail. Crossing water, going up and down inclines, and riding safely around traffic, just to name a few, are basics that every horse should know for everyday safety reasons.

At Bavaria Equine & Oddities LLC we also work with "problem horses." Once physical causes are ruled out, we focus on determining what the horse wants to achieve by engaging in the problem behavior and then adjusting our approach to teach more acceptable behaviors to accomplish the same outcome.

Our trailer loading program helps horses at all stages of training to voluntarily load into any type of trailer. Regardless of whether your horse has never led into a trailer before, has loaded but is hesitant, or has loaded but has a hard to load reputation, our step by step program can be tailored to his or her specific needs. In addition, we work on special issues such as backing out, loading via a ramp, and loading into straight loads.

We offer exclusive lessons to people who have bought or are in the process of buying a horse from us, as well as to people who have used our horse training services or are using are horse training services.

Lessons are stuctured based on a positive framework, with a focus on both theoretical knowledge as well as practical skill. 

Our positive training approach knows no limits with regard to species. We always love working with donkeys and mules!
